Some things never change. So, if your car’s performance has you wondering if it’s time for a tune-up, you’re in good company. Tune-ups and the services involved for your car have changed a lot in recent years. In newer cars, there’s no longer much to “tune” or adjust.
That doesn’t mean you can’t benefit from a thorough analysis of your vehicle’s performance to ensure it is running its best and small maintenance services or repairs don’t become big ones down the road. Our service technicians will perform a FREE 29-Point Inspection before any work is performed on your vehicle.
For many years, a vehicle tune-up service involved an engine inspection and, if necessary, a replacement carburetor and sparkplugs. And if your vehicle was made before 2000, a tune-up service likely remains the same.
However, if your vehicle was made after the year 2000, it’s unlikely to have a carburetor. With carburetors largely a thing of the past, today’s “tune-up” is actually a systems inspection accompanied by new sparkplugs.
Here’s what makes an inspection at Goodyear Auto Service different, and better. First, our professional service technicians go beyond the typical checkup with a comprehensive 29-point car tune-up checklist that covers every major system in your vehicle. Next, we’ll inspect your spark plugs to determine whether they need to be replaced.
After our 29-Point Inspection, we’ll share any findings or observation we may have. If anything looks less than road-ready, we’ll talk you through any recommended repairs or services and their costs. We’ll also help you determine which repairs (if any) require immediate attention, and which you may want to plan for at a future time.
Free with any service, our 29-Point Inspection includes, but is not limited to:
- TIRES — We check air pressure, tread depth, speed ratings and load capacity to ensure you have the right tire for your vehicle’s manufacturer recommendations
- FLUIDS — We check oil, transmission, coolant, power steering, washer, and brake fluid for needed maintenance
- UNDER THE HOOD — We check engine start and crank inspection to determine battery life, as well as your lights, filters, wipers, and more.
- BRAKES — We check your front- and rear brakes to look for signs of wear
Periodic tune-ups are important because they will keep you aware of any necessary repairs, helping you and your car run smoothly.
We recommend you have your vehicle checked during every oil change service so you are alerted to any changes to your vehicle's condition. Learn more about our Oil Change Service today.
