Struts And Shocks

Struts and shocks absorb wheel motion and adapt to road irregularities, strongly influencing the control and handling of your vehicle. When your struts or shocks are worn, your car has a shaky, uncomfortable ride. Worn struts or shocks can cause issues such as excessive vehicle bouncing, drifting, nose-diving while braking, swaying, steering wheel vibration, and irregular treadwear.

It is normal for struts and shocks to wear out gradually, causing incremental loss in ride quality, handling and control. Have your struts and shocks checked once a year when you have your wheel alignment checked.

Automatic Transmission Service

Over time, transmission fluid loses its ability to clean, cool and lubricate, potentially leading to transfmission overheating and/or failure. To keep your transmission running smoothly, change your transmission fluid every 2 years or 24,000 miles or as often as recommended by your vehicle manufacturer.

Automatic transmission service is the removal and replacement of transmission fluid using state of the art equipment. the service has many benefits including:

  • Helps keep internal passageways clean
  • Aids in fluid temperature control
  • Limits fluid aeration
  • Replaces lost lubricants
  • Transmits forces and pressures
  • Inhibits varnish build-up
  • Protects the transmission from abrasion

Cooling System Service

Over time the anti-corrosion and lubricating properties in coolant begin to break down. This break down allows rust, corrosion and mineral deposits to begin forming throughout the cooling system, which could result in overheating and cause engine damage.

Your vehicle's cooling system consists of a number of components working together to circulate a liquid called "coolant" in order to keep thee engine running at the optimal operating temperature. coolant system service is the removal and replacement of engine coolant using state of the art equipment.

Coolant system service extends radiator and coolant system life and efficiency.

Exhaust Service

Climate and road conditions can damage, break or wear out exhaust components such as the muffler, catalytic converter and exhaust pipe. the exhaust system keeps harmful engine exhaust gases directed away from the interior compartment, reduces pollutants released into the atmosphere, and minimizes engine exhaust noises.

Exhaust services at your Goodyear Auto Service Center replace exhaust components that are broken, missing or are not performing their intended function.

Belt and Hose Service

Your vehicle has several belts and hoses essential to keeping your vehicle running. Your belts and hoses will be checked during routine maintenance inspections at your Goodyear Auto Service Center or if you come in with any symptoms of issues with your belts and hoses.

Coolant Hoses
Coolant hoses are flexible couplings that provide a connection for coolant flow between the engine and the radiator and the engine and the heater core. Leaking or ruptured hoses can cause loss of coolant or engine or cooling system damage.

The coolant hoses should be inspected at least twice a year. Defective hoses should be replaced as needed.

Drive Belt
Drive belt is the flexible rubber belt which provides power to engine-mounted accessories like the power steering pump, air conditioning compressor, mechanical cooling fan and air injection pump.

Driving belt breakage will result in the loss of one or more drive accessories. Studies show the chance of drive belt failure rises dramatically after:

  • Four years or 36,000 miles for v-style belts
  • 50,000 miles for serpentine style belts.

Timing Belt
The timing belt maintains crankshaft-to-camshaft synchronization, keeping valve operation matched to piston position. Damage or breakage to your timing belt can cause loss of vehicle power, failure to start engine or, in some cases, major engine damage.

Check your owner's manual for the manufacturer's recommended mileage interval for timing belt replacement.

Note: it is not unusual to replace related oil control seals or the vehicles' water pump when performing timing belt replacement

Fuel System Service

The fuel injector system delivers fuel to the cylinders to accelerate your vehicle. Today's vehicles run at higher temperatures than in the past resulting in contaminants being left on fuel injectors, intake valves and other internal engine components. Clogged fuel systems can cause lower than expected fuel mileage, an increase in exhaust emissions, and a reduction in engine performance. Fuel system service is the chemical cleaning of the fuel system components.

Follow the guidelines in your vehicle's owner's manual to determine how often to perform fuel system maintenance. The auto service experts at your Goodyear Auto Service Center can help you find more information.
