Brakes

Brake Service

Everyone knows the importance of brakes. So it is equally important to take good care of your braking system.

When you hit your brake pedal, you compress the brake fluid in the master cylinder, which sends hydraulic pressure through your brake lines to put your brake pads (or shoes) in motion. The brake pads grab your rotors to slow down or stop your vehicle. Brake pads, shoes, drums and rotors are made of materials that wear down from heat and friction, even under normal driving conditions. If you don't repair them in time, you can do significant damage to your braking system and create hazardous driving conditions for yourself.

Identifying Brake Problems

Learn to look for the warning signs of failing brakes:

  • Your brakes make a grinding or screeching noise
  • Your vehicle pulls to one side when braking
  • Your brakes pulsate when you hit the pedal
  • It takes a longer distance than usual to stop your car
  • Your brake warning light is on

Your local Goodyear Auto Service Center can help you take care of your braking system needs. Brake services include:

  • Replacement of worn brake pads and/or brake shoes
  • Resurface brake rotors or drums
  • Replacement of brake fluid as needed
